From a passion for the sea and the urgency to take concrete action on the issue of beached waste, the volunteer and citizen science Full Sail campaign was born in 2017. The project is an initiative of Legambiente and Diversamente Marinai, the A.S.D that aims to make the world of sailing and sailing accessible to all, integrating social marginalities and disabilities.
Since its inception, Acqua dell'Elba has decided to be a partner in the project.
Since the first edition, the campaign has involved around 200 volunteers each year, around 20 beaches monitored each year and a total of 3500 kg of rubbish collected and more than 100 beaches and coves cleaned.
The campaign includes a rich program of activities: in addition to cleaning beaches that are inaccessible by land and monitoring waste according to the European Beach Litter protocol, the participating boys and girls have the opportunity to participate in other field training activities, such as Whale Watching, the exciting sighting of cetaceans in a sailboat, and the monitoring and control of the tracks of Caretta Caretta sea turtles. Volunteers then go out to discover paths in creeks that are not on the maps and are then mapped as needed.
